How I Would Spend My Summer If I won the Lottery

How I Would Spend My Summer If I won the Lottery

In recent months I have kind of neglected my ‘what I would buy/spend my time if I won the lottery’ but no more, my series is back and is back with a bang. I am here to inspire all you dreamers and optimist out there. The good thing about dreamers is that we’re always positive and optimistic about the future, we only hope for the best and see the best in everything and everyone. Sometimes it can be a good and bad thing. But sometimes there is no point in dreaming if all it’s ever going to be is a dream. We should all try and pursue our dreams no matter how big or small they are because anyone can achieve anything in life if they try hard enough, right now I’m working my hardest to try and pursue mine – I’m writing to you guys. It’s better to know that you tried rather than to give up and not try at all because in the end you could be living the life that you have always dreamed of. You could be living your dream. However if you never try you will always be wondering what if and you’ll never be truly happy. Do you want to be living someone else’s dream or yours? Although, life does not always go the way that we intend we have two choices; we can either take control and start living our lives or we can just let thing pass and exist. What are you going to do?

Last year I did one of these and it was very popular so I decided to do another one and make this an annual thing. With 10 weeks to spare I have decided to dedicate this post to Europe, we are going to go to as many places as possible. Last years post included a range of different places but this year I discovered just how beautiful the continent of Europe is and I thought that I might give you a few places to add to your travel bucket list and hopefully inspire you! I love discovering new places, learning new languages and experiences other cultures, it would be a dream for me to travel  the world.

If we are going to spend an entire summer travelling around Europe we need to travel in style and what better way to travel than by private jet! A whole plane to yourself and your loved ones that fits your schedule, it doesn’t get any better than that. My number one choice of private jet charter would definitely have to be Private Fly. Although I haven’t tested them out myself I have done my research and they have some of the best reviews, I can trust that if you ever book with them you would be in great hands. And you get to choose your aircraft too! The high life is truly amazing.

Where to go for brunch if you’re ever in Bulawayo

Where to go for brunch if you’re ever in Bulawayo

I cannot believe We’re already half way through the year. How is it June already? I honesty cannot get over how fast this year is going by. It’s literally flying by and I don’t know how I feel about that, I feel as though I’ve only accomplished a few of my resolutions and now I only have 6 months to try and complete the rest of them!

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year since I last visited my hometown of Bulawayo because I remember it like it was yesterday. And it’s almost been a year since I went to France with my favourite people. And it’s been 3 years since I went to Amsterdam. It’s unbelievable. The last four years of my life have gone by so quickly for me, it’s kind of hard to comprehend.

Considering I go to Bulawayo almost every single year without fail you’d think that I’d be an expert by now, but no not really. I still don’t know the city centre but I know the best place for brunch – 26 on park. It was during our first few days in Bulawayo and we’d just come back from the country visiting my grandmother and my Auntie and I were looking for a good place to eat and a friend of my cousin recommended 26 on park.

It’s situated in the suburbs of Bulawayo away from all the chaos. It’s peaceful and the scenery is beautiful. Not to mention the food is amazing, I would highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Juicy Couture tracksuits making a comeback?

Juicy Couture tracksuits making a comeback?

Never did I ever think that we’d see juicy couture or velour tracksuits back in fashion so soon. I thought we had at least another 5 years before we’d see them back again. But like I’ve said multiple times before fashion trends of the past are constantly coming back and are forever evolving to fit the brand new market of consumers.

Juicy Couture tracksuits were a favourite among celebrities and were everywhere back in the 2000s, everyone owned one! I’m not even going to lie to you, I loved juicy couture tracksuits back in the day, they were so incredibly comfortable and not to mention fashionable! I lived in my velour tracksuit, I literally could not live without it so much that my mother had to buy me another one, however this one was from primark, not quite the same but what did I know at the age of 5.

It’s always nice to see trends of the past come back because I always love to see how people style them, we get to see a whole new perspective. Before we used to pair them with uggs but now we pair them with booties and white adidas. And last year juicy couture came back with a bang by doing a collaboration with one of the most influential brands of the moment vetements. Anyone who is anyone is wearing vetements right now!

Wireless; What to Wear to the Festival of the Summer

Wireless; What to Wear to the Festival of the Summer

This year I plan on starting my summer in the best way possible and in order to do that I plan on attending one of the biggest festivals ever in the uk, wireless. I honestly could not think of a better way to kick off the summer of 2017.
Lately, I haven’t really been feeling like myself, it has been non stop revision for the last few weeks and I am so incredibly tired. On the bright side, I finish school in three weeks and I cannot wait. Hopefully my summer will not be as boring as the last! I have 10 weeks off, so far 1 holiday booked, another on the horizon, a long list of things that I want to do and a limited amount of money which is probably a problem for many teenagers like myself. All I want to do is have the summer of my life, I cannot stay in my house for an entire 10 weeks, I’ll go insane.

Wireless is London’s biggest music festival and this year we are going to see some of the biggest names in pop, hip hop and dance at Finsbury Park. This years line up is all about British talent and it is honestly one of the best ever, I wouldn’t miss it for the world! It gets bigger and better every year, It’s always an unmissable event! From Zara Larson, chance the rapper, skepta the weekend and homegrown talent including Bugzy Malone, Geko and Kojo Funds. If you love pop, hip- hop and grime then wireless is the place to be.

Wireless is a festival that celebrates new, fresh and young talent from across the globe and brings young people from the uk together to have one of the best weekends of their entire summer.
If you are attending wireless this year and have no clue as to what to wear then keep reading. What many people forget when attending a festival like wireless is that we do not live in America. This is not cochella therefore don’t dress like you’re going to cochella. Wireless is a chance for you to bring out your best street style and basically dress like you’re favourite celeb. Forget about flower crowns, cute play suits and faux metallic tattoos, with wireless it’s all about snapbacks, oversized shirts, ripped denim and of course some ‘peng’ boots or trainers. At least that’s what I think anyway but obviously you are free to wear whatever you want.
Here are some ideas:

In the style X Sarah Ashcroft

In the style X Sarah Ashcroft

Sarah Ashcroft aka That Pommie Girl is the girl of the moment, she is one of the most popular social influencers in the UK and last week she announced that she is releasing her very own collection with In the style. I have been following Sarah for the longest time, in fact she was among the many people that inspired me to start my blog and I am so happy to see how far she has come within the last couple of years!

The collection is set to be released next Friday on the 19th and I have to say I cannot wait! I have always envied Sarahs wardrobe! Sarah Ashcroft is sassy, stylish and certainly knows how to pull an outfit together! The collection is perfect for the upcoming summer, it’s on trend, its feminine and chic yet at the same time extremely cool and street style worthy. Whether you’re looking for a day look or an outfit to wear on a girls night out, Sarah Ashcroft’s collection is perfect! I am in love with the colour palette of this collection, it is everything, from blushes to minks, coppers and nudes, you can’t get any more Sarah than that!

This has to be the most Instagramable collaboration that I have ever seen – silky twist maxi dresses, boss baby crop tees, a nude sequin dress and my favourite the BABE denim jacket. I don’t know about you by I am planning on getting my hands on as much of the collection as possible before it sells out. Without a doubt you will be receiving compliments on your wardrobe all summer long!

You can catch a sneak peak of the collection here – https://www.inthestyle.com/sarah

Where to go for brunch if you’re ever in Bulawayo

Fine Dining; Chaophraya Leeds

If you don’t already know my home city of Leeds offers some of the best fine dining in the whole vicinity of Yorkshire and among the many amazing restaurants the city has to offer there is Chaophraya.

Chaophraya is a Thai restaurant which first opened up in 2004 and like many restaurants there is a meaning behind the name, Chaophraya is named after the largest river in Thailand which flows through Bangkok where the owner Kim grew up and this is where they take their inspiration from.

The minute you walk in you can tell just how much love and work the owner has put in and interestingly enough every single of piece is decor has been imported from Thailand giving you the most authentic Thai experience you could ever hope for in the UK. You truly feel as though you have stepped into an entirely different country and escaped to Thailand!

Last Monday me and my brother when to Chaophraya and before Monday I had never tried Thai before so this was my first time (unless you can count the Thai green vegetable curry I once made in food tech at school). I am extremely fussy when it comes to food but the tasting menu that we had was out of this world and I will most definitely be trying Thai again! If you love Chinese and Japanese food you will certainly love Thai! As I’m getting older I’m trying to widen my taste palette which of course means trying new things and Thai was my first step. Life is way too short to eat the same food all the time right?

Kindly enough Rebecca had set up a private room for the two of us which had traditional floor seating. It was most definitely a different experience but I loved it and the view from the room was so incredible, we got to watch the city of Leeds go from day to night. The room that we sat in can also be booked for private dinners, birthdays and business meetings and sits up to 18 people! The room is great for privacy and you don’t miss out on the live music which is there every Sunday and Monday. And if you want to book the entire restaurant you can do that, there is even a top floor which includes outdoor sitting (great for the summer months) and there is also a bar upstairs #bonus.

Their menu features a combination of both classical and contemporary dishes, each with the idea to capture the essence of different regions of Thailand. First up on our tasting menu was Chicken Satay and Thai Chicken Tacos. This was the perfect starter for me, I love chicken and I mean who love tacos, especially tacos with a twist, the coconut milk added a kick of sweetness. If you ever try the chicken satay you should definitely dip the in the peanut sauce, it truly makes the dish.

Next up on the menu was Spicy Seafood Undon Noodles and Thai Green Chicken Curry with Steamed Jasmine rice.If you’re a seafood lover then the Spicy Seafood Undon Noodle dish is the one for you, it contains mussels, prawns and squid. This was my first time trying squid and mussels and in all honesty they were so much better than I had expected, it may have been because of the way that they were served within the dish but all I know is that they were delicious. The Thai Curry was undeniably so much better than mine, the flavours just came together to create an incredible dish!

Dessert was unquestionably my favourite, I have a sweet tooth like nobody’s business! The white chocolate box was mouth watering, I could not get enough of it. This was White chocolate Mousse with raspberry coulis on butter shortbread served with a mini macaroon and passion fruit syrup, practically all of my favourite things in one!  We also had the Thai Dessert sampler and I am not a fan of custard but the pandan leaf custard together with the mango sticky rice was like heaven in my mouth!

Thank you so much to Rebecca and the staff at Chaophraya for the loveliest meal and for giving me such a warm welcome, I am forever grateful for your hospitality and I cannot wait to come back!

Beauty products you Need from beautybay this summer!

Beauty products you Need from beautybay this summer!

I have recently been doing a bit of spring cleaning and in the last couple of weeks I have cleared out my my entire wardrobe and makeup draw ready for the summer! My mother calls me a hoarder which I think is nonsense. Every single year without fail she has managed to secretly get rid of a couple of my things and either thrown them away or given them to other people. However this year instead of waiting for her to do it again I decided that It would be best if I did it myself. I hate spring cleaning and I hate getting rid of things especially those that are sentimental to me and hold a lot of memories but sometimes it needs to be done in order to make space for new and exciting thing in our lives!

Now that I have thrown away all of my old and out of date beauty products I am going to need more makeup and skincare so what better place to go than the land of beauty bay! If you live in the UK and have never heard of beautybaty, where have you been living for the last couple of years? It is the go to when it comes to beauty products, they have an amazing range of products from ABH to Morphe, I mean what more could you want!

Soul Scene; Gucci’s pre-fall campaign

Soul Scene; Gucci’s pre-fall campaign

Back in January I told you guys all about Gucci’s pre- fall campaign. The Luxury fashion house teased us with a series of audition tapes on Instagram which solely focused on people of colour. The models were asked what soul meant to them and then asked to dance for the camera. Now we finally get to see the whole idea behind the tapes. Just over a week ago Gucci officially released the campaign titled “Soul Scene”.

Gucci’s pre-fall campaign is inspired by 1960s influences, such as England’s underground Northern Soul movement, which was sparked by black American soul music. The inspiration for Soul Scene came from a recent exhibition at London’s Photographer’s Gallery called Made You Look, which focused on black masculinity and dandyism. The exhibition emphasises the idea that black men are among the most influential trendsetters in fashion, music, and global style culture in the early 21st century. However, high visibility for black men is accompanied by high vulnerability, as evidenced by disproportionate rates of arrest and incarceration for black men in the UK and the US

It’s a very rare moment for fashion to highlight racial issues but creative director Alessandro Michele did an amazing job! He is showing the world that young black individuals should not be afraid to express themselves. The campaign explores freedom of self-expression and flamboyancy. It is fun, colorful, creative, vibrant, and extremely uplifting!

It is clear that the industry is taking notable steps toward a more representative and positive future. I am so proud of how far the fashion industry has come in the last couple of years and how brands like Gucci are using their platform to highlight such controversial issues. It can really only get better from here!

Kanye West and Alessandro are leading the wave of a more diverse industry and as a black woman, it is incredible to see the industry evolving in the way it is.

Portofino; the most beautiful Piazzetta in the world.

Portofino; the most beautiful Piazzetta in the world.

A few months ago I came across the village of Portofino and I instantly fell in love. Portofino is hands down one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my entire life! It may sound like an exaggeration but it truly is. The village is so incredibly breath taking and like nothing that I have ever seen before.

It is no surprise that this is a go to destination for the super rich and famous! You cannot go wrong with Pastel-colored houses, high-end boutiques and seafood restaurants, a small cobbled square overlooking the harbor, lined with super-yachts, you will feel like you have gone back to the 1950’s and 60’s! Portofino is a place of history, beauty, luxury, adventure. It might even be one of the most instagramable places you’ll ever see and I cannot wait for the day that I get to experience it for myself!
