I don’t know what it is, but this year I am more obsessed with bags than ever before. It’s like an ongoing thing, the older I get the more obsessed I become – by the time I reach the golden age of 75, I’ll be the crazy old lady with a 1000 bags covering not only a room but an entire floor in her huge mansion home! If that doesn’t show my obsession then I don’t know what will. I mean how can you not love bags, they are an ESSENTIAL, A NEED for your closet, how else are you meant to carry things, pockets can only do so much. That’s why in my opinion you need a vast range of bags that are versatile enough to go with every single outfit, that’s why you can never go wrong with a black one because there is nothing more annoying than wearing a cute ass outfit only for your bag not to match, do you know how frustrating that is to see!
Today we’re talking about my newest love – the 90s shoulder bag which according to WWW is ‘” a response to the mini-bag trend where people were having to carry around an extra bag. … The shoulder bag offers the hands-free option,” We saw this with the return of the Dior Saddle and Fendi Baguette but expect other classics to return, like Gucci’s Jackie bag.
You cannot tell me that these bags are not nostalgic AF! My mum LOVED her shoulder bags back in the day, I remember her buying me two of my own at the mere age of 4/5 and every year after that until I got to the age of 10 and discovered totes in 2011 (mum fueling my addiction from a young age lol). Right about now I am literally kicking myself for throwing them away, I could be rocking my own too but back then I knew little about fashion trends and how was I meant to know they’d ever be back 🙁
We’re saying goodbye to the bum bag so mark my words, SHOULDER BAGS ARE GOING TO DOMINATE 2019, make room under that arm of yours this spring/summer because this is the only bag that you’ll need to carry all summer long!!! The ’90s favourite is back and here are my favourites;

You’re probably going to get sick of me saying this but time is going by way too fast for my liking. I don’t wanna grow up! I heard it’s a trap and I would gladly relive the last year of my life again ;( Can you believe that it has been a whole 2 years since I did a post like this; one summarising the top trends of the year. That is so crazy to me, that was literally one of my first ever posts and I was so freaking proud of myself for it!
I am well aware that we’re basically halfway through Feb but did you really think I could leave 2018 without giving you a summary of my top trends of 2018? The answer to that is no – this is my official goodbye to 2018 – Today is where my 2019 begins because January was not a productive month for me AT ALL but today it all changes. 2018 was one of the most memorable years of my life, I cannot express enough to you how grateful I am for last year. And as you can tell I already failed at my new year’s resolution of being consistent (go me) but I promise you I have a good excuse and that I’m going to stop making false promises and just try my best to post when I can. I honestly feel like I haven’t been putting enough effort with my blog. Ever since 2017, I feel as though I haven’t created the great quality content that I used to post before and that needs to change, as of TODAY, Ivis Today is back in full force!
Being the avid fashion lover that I am, I thought that we could all reminisce on the fashion trends that dominated 2018. From the ‘ugly’ dad sneakers to logo covered merch to cycling shorts to PVC, these were the fashion trends that were EVERYWHERE and the ones that are most probably still going to be around for the majority of 2019, the trends that were worn by everyone who is anyone and the trends that were rocked by your favourite insta babes.
My advice for you this coming year is to never throw away any of your favourite items of clothing because it is clearly evident that trends have a habit of coming back as we have seen from the last 3 years since I began my blogging career and from this past year, trust me when I say keep hold of those low wasted jeans and that bucket hat!
The trends of 2018
Animal Print

So this has to be my all time favourite trend from 2018 and the one trend that will still dominate 2019. Animal print has been EVERYWHERE, it has been mixed with a number of fabrics and serving you fashion in all shapes and forms!
Check

Check is TIMELESS and one of those trends that will never ever die out. It brings you fun, sophistication and so much more!
Leather

We had heard of leather jackets before but a whole leather look? 2018 brought leather to life and I am OBSESSED!
Suits

In case you missed it suits are no longer just something you wear to the office, in 2018 we saw them worn casually, for dinner dates and so much more
Krazy Knits

Has knitwear ever been exciting since the 80s? The answer is not until 2018, this was the year we saw trends from the 80s come back to haunt is in effortless style.

I don’t know about you but I am TIRED of this cold weather. I am not a winter person nor will I ever be, it is so fucking depressing and I am tired 24/7. As soon as I graduate from Uni I will be spending my winters in South Africa that is until my children are 4 (the age they start school) because why am I killing myself? I hate winter and at this point, I’m sure it hates me with the number of times that I’ve been ill since it began. I am literally shivering as I write this and I am in my house in LAYERS underneath a blanket!!!!!!
By now you all should know how much I love to travel and how much I wanna see the world so it’s only right that I give you the best holiday destinations for February;
Maldives

Zanzibar

Maui, Hawaii

Cape Town, South Africa

Cartagena, Colombia

In my humble opinion 80s, fashion was completely and utterly hideous. It was a truly dark moment for fashion. It was a decade full of the most unruly trends the world has ever seen, however, we learned from our mistakes and progressed enough that although the bodysuit is back it has evolved into a thing of beauty. It may have been inspired by the 80s but It has never been presented with such elegance!
In 2017 when it came to bodysuits it was all about luxe materials – lace, ribbon, heavy embroidery, beading and velvet etc. There was this new wave – underwear was now the new outerwear. This was a time where bodysuits were only just on the rise, they hadn’t fully made their comeback yet, last year is where we really saw them shine! With more opulent materials available to us I don’t think bodysuits have ever been looked so flattering on women of all shapes and sizes. Unlike 2017, bodysuits are something you can wear casually now – not just something for night outs or dinner dates, more and more high street stores are selling them and I am OBSESSED!
Damaris Evans, who has long loved the body. “They’ve been produced for years, but I think they’ve been underestimated until the recent merging of lingerie and ready-to-wear,” she says. “When crafted properly, they are phenomenally flattering and can be layered very tastefully.”
I honestly feel like I say this in EVERY SINGLE POST but I just can’t help myself. The comeback of the body suit only goes to show that fashion trends are recycled now and again, even the ones that we thought we had gotten rid of forever. The trends of the past are coming back to life as better versions of themselves, first, it was wide leg patterned trousers, ugly sneakers, mom jeans and now the bodysuit, my question is which trend is making a comeback next?
Here are some of my favourite bodysuits on the market right now from both high street and designer brands;
