It’s the new year and you know what that means, it’s time to declutter and reset. I feel as though at the start of every new year we need to get rid of everything that we no longer need – it’s the only way to start the year. Why wait till spring?
Once you have everything in a pile, you have the things that you want to keep, the things that you want to give to Charity, the things that you want to sell and the things that you want to throw away. Now if you have designer pieces in your sell pile I would recommend to sell them on Vestiaire collective. It is known as Europe’s leading online marketplace for buying and selling pre-owned luxury fashion.
If you read my blog post which I posted around a year and a half ago on investment pieces you would know that some brands just never go out of style – Chanel, Hermès and Dior! These are the 3 brands that will never lose their value but instead are only getting more valuable with time.
You can think of this as a follow-up to that post. I’m kind of giving you guys advice on what to do after you have bought the bag and no longer need it.
The first thing you have to consider when selling a bag is, whether it is worth selling. Is it of top quality? Can I prove its authenticity and original value? Has it kept its original shape? Has it kept its original colour? And does it have any scratches? If the answer for any of these questions is no just keep in mind that the value of the bag will not be as close to the original as if you had answered yes for all of these questions and that it may take longer for you to sell than if it was in perfect condition. And whatever you do not throw away the dust bag and the box that the bag came in because this will be more appealing to a potential buyer.
The next step is deciding when to sell. Don’t sell too early and don’t sell too late. It’s a little easier to sell classic and iconic designs such as Chanel, Dior and Hermès because the demand for these remains fairly constant and won’t change anytime soon. However, with more trend like designs, the demand for these will change and it is important to sell at the right time and during the right season. Light and pastel-coloured bags are better in spring, bright-coloured bags sell better in summer and darker and neutral-toned bags sell better in winter. The best way to know when it’s right to sell is to use social media to your advantage, social media will tell you what’s on trend, when it’s on trend and what people want to buy.
Of course, you can’t forget the selling price. You need to find a balance, you want to sell your item for as much as you possibly can, however, you also want to make sure that it sells, therefore, you can’t set a price that is too high or a price that is too low. So I would recommend checking out similar items to yours, second-hand items to be precise to see how much they’re selling for and to take that into consideration when setting a price for your item. Also, write down the prices of the things that have sold and the prices of those that haven’t, this is key to ensuring that you pick the correct price.
Lastly, presentation, the presentation is everything so you need to take the best pictures that you possibly can to showcase your item. The picture is the thing that sells your item. The way that it is presented is what attracts the buyer the most, therefore, you need to take a picture of every angle that you possibly can and to make sure that it is of high quality. You also need to give a very detailed description of your item and listing all of the imperfections no matter how small they may be because what buyers appreciate the most is a seller who is truthful. It is always best to be honest because in the end all sold items are checked for quality and authenticity by Vestaire Collective so any unmentioned imperfections will be called out and this can result in the order being cancelled the sale altogether.
However, once your item is up for sale you need to be active and answer questions that potential buyers may have and you need to make sure that you are responsive because the more you engage the better chance you have of your item being seen by the community, therefore, more chance of it being sold!
Disclaimer;
You can buy and sell a range of items on Vestaire Collective, I just found it easier to give an example, that example being designer bags.

Last week was the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards and this year wasn’t you’re average Golden Globes but it was a movement, Women and men wore black in support of the Me Too movement and Time’s Up initiative to fight sexual misconduct and gender inequality in the workplace.
As a young woman growing up in today’s world I find it hard to believe that there is still gender inequality within the workplace, it’s 2018 for goodness sake. No one is born more superior than the other, we are all equal, yet society teaches us that there is a hierarchy and men are at the top of this. Women have always had to fight for their rights, we had to fight for our right to vote and until recently women were only seen to be homemakers, we had to prove ourselves and we have to work a hundred times harder than men in order to gain high ranking roles yet when we do obtain those roles we’re still paid less. Why do men get paid more to do the same job? Why are women disregard for promotions? Why is this still occurring? Who decided this? What more needs to be done for there to be gender equality within the workplace?
As well as fighting for gender equality the night was also dedicated to fighting against sexual misconduct in the work place. Receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award, handed to her by Reese Witherspoon, one of the leaders of Time’s Up Oprah delivered an empowering and emotional speech.“For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up. Their time is up.”
A lot of women are scared to speak out against sexual harassment within the workplace over fear that they may not be believed or that they may lose their jobs. A good example of this is Harvey Weinstein, a well known director in Hollywood who took advantage of his position and convinced women into committing sexual acts with him by telling them they would potentially lose their jobs and last year more than 50 women made allegations against him and the numbers are still growing. This needs to change and it needs to change now! Why does sexual harassment even occur especially in the workplace, women are not objects and they should be able to do their jobs in peace.
On the bright side black looks good on EVERYONE and the Golden Globes is evidence of this, people did not come to paly this year! here are my favourite looks;
So earlier this month Pia Mia released her collaboration with In The Style and in my opinion it is In The Styles best collaboration yet! I love everything about it, I feel as though it represents my style at this moment in time. Over the last few months I have become obsessed with camo and Co-ords and become obsessed with Pia Mia’s style.
This collab represents everything about the modern woman and gives all sorts of badass vibes, these are the type of clothes that you wear when you want to slay life and show people that you mean business. Unfortunately we’re currently in the middle of winter here in the U.K. so I’ll have to wait until around march to wear anything within this collab so that I can truly show it off in all it’s glory without a winter coat. I cannot wait!
If anyone knows me they now that I absolutely adore skirts! I wear them all day everyday! I may even have a slight obsession, who knows.
This may or may not be a phase but I never really used to like skirts, I was always a jean kind of girl for YEARS, even in primary school I refused to wear skirts/ dresses during summer, my mum would literally have to force me. However over time and after having gone through high school where I had no choice but to wear a skirt for 5 years straight I have grown to love them and in the last two years have built up quite a collection.
My friends and family already think I own too many skirts but in my opinion you can never own too much of anything. Every piece of clothing has a story to tell and an outfit to contribute to and an occasion to cater for. No one can ever have too many clothes!
Just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean that you can’t wear a skirt??? That’s why someone invented tights! And secondly I will wear whatever I want at my own risk, so just let me wear my skirt in peace. Sometimes you need to take a risk, no pain no gain right?
From midi, to denim to mini here are my favourite skirts at the moment;
Last night the EMAS took place in London with amazing performances from the likes Eminem, Camila Cabello, Rita Ora and Stormzy. However as memorable as those performances were, what I’m more interested in is what everyone wore so here are my favourite looks from the EMAS!
I think we can all agree when I say this outfit is fucking iconic! Rita Ora is giving me all sorts of Mario Testino towel series vibes with a touch of glamour!
Sabrina Carpenter looked so effortlessly elegant last night, i’m in love.
A little pink never hurt anyone! Zara Larsson adding a little brightness on a dull British evening with her pink ensemble
The bangs complete this entire outfit. Charli XCX looks amazing and is definitely an example of how less is more!
It is clear that Demi is taking tips from Kim Kardashian with this oversized pant suit and she’s killing this look!
This outfit is EVERYTHING! Lana Del Ray is giving us spring in autumn.
How cute does Ella Eyre look in this divine skirt suit? And the fluffy red shoes are just perfect!
This has to be my favourite look of the entire night! Maya Jama looked sensational this cheongsam inspired dress
It is the end of an era. After 76 years coach has announced that it will now be known as tapestry. This change comes following the acquisition of two very powerful brand companies over the last two years, first Stuart Weitzman in 2015 and more recently Kate Spade & Company in 2017. The company said Tapestry is the perfect name to reflect the expansion into a multi-brand firm. The company settled on Tapestry because it was easily understandable and did not sound too corporate, particularly when you compare it to LVMH, Kering, and other brands in the $80 billion global premium fashion market.
“We searched for a name to reflect these values while also expressing the cultural diversity of our people and our brands for today and tomorrow,” explained Victor Luis, chief executive. “In Tapestry, we found a name that speaks to creativity, craftsmanship, authenticity and inclusivity on a shared platform and values.”
“We believe that Tapestry can grow with our portfolio and with our current brands as they extend into new categories and markets. The name embodies our creative brand-led and consumer-focused business, while also representing the deep heritage of the group. Most importantly, we are establishing a strong and distinct corporate identity, which enables our brands to express their individual personalities and unique language to consumers.”
Luiz further explained the strength in the three brands lies in both their similarities and differences: “Each of our brands has a unique proposition, fulfilling different fashion sensibilities and emotional needs within the very attractive and growing $80 billion global market for premium handbag and accessories, footwear and outerwear. At the same time, our brands are also built upon the shared values of optimism, inclusivity and innovation.”
I’ve been a bit MIA from award season this year on my blog and from blogging in general this summer, however I am back and I am refreshed and ready to show you guys my favourite looks from this years VMAs.
I feel as though this year we didn’t really see many trends when it came to the carpet at the VMAS, almost every celebrity was different, which is what I like to see!
Body image is something that affects everyone and I feel as though we only ever hear about the way that it affects young girls and women but what about men and young boys?
At some points in our lives we all struggle with body confidence and we are our worst critics, we see faults in ourselves that other people don’t see and it is truly damaging to our mental health. My motto has always been and will forever be ; ‘you need to learn to love yourself before you can allow yourself to love another person because at the end of the day if you can’t love yourself who will?’.
Of course as a teenager I still have a lot to learn about life but I find it saddening to see people around me tear themselves apart trying to be the ‘perfect girl’ that they see in magazines and the instagram models that we all envy to be. As much as I love this industry it does have it’s faults, one of them being that it fails to represent women of all shapes and sizes. Last year I watched one of my closest friends go through something that I would never wish upon anyone and it’s all because of this idea that society has put into our heads – if we’re not skinny we’re not beautiful.
I am very lucky in the sense that I have learned to love myself and although I have my days, I am happy with the way that I look and would not change a thing about myself. However this is not the case for many people out there, there are young girls as young as the age of 10 that are starving themselves and over exercising. We may not realise it but the images that we see online and around us are extremely damaging to our mental health. Social media has opened so many doors but social it makes it hard for people to remain true to themselves.
Talking to Yahoo Beauty, Keke Palmer said that social media and the internet in general has become so judgmental that people will either put themselves down before a troll gets the chance to comment, or they conform to what they are being told is the way they should look. And she believes the Kardashians are a big part of the problem.
I say f*** society and learn to love yourself and your insecurities because in the long run it will make your life so much happier, don’t listen to the people that try to put you down because they obviously have insecurities of their own or they’re simply jealous. Love yourself and don’t stop loving yourself!
Ever since I discovered my love for designer shoes Louboutin has been a favourite of mine for the longest time and I cannot wait to purchase my very first pair! Four years ago, Christian Louboutin launched his first Nude shoe Collection, a line of pumps in five different nudes and since then the brand has expanded to seven shades.
A few weeks ago, Louboutin took the collection one step further by adding two high-heel sandals; the Christeriva and the Cherrysandal. Although I mention this a lot, I am so happy to see that designer brands are embracing all skin tones, because every skin colour is beautiful. I cannot express enough how things like this help to build up the confidence of young women of colour and I am so proud to be apart of an industry that appreciates people of all colours! I love both of the sandals, I think they’re beautiful and are perfect for the summer and will go with every single thing in your wardrobe!
